yay for weekends

Not much to really write about but I'm bored so I figured I'd do a new post!  Lucky for you guys! lol

#1:  Baby boy is finally starting to feel better!  Which means mommy is finally getting some more sleep at night!  YAY!

#2:  This is my last weekend in KS!!!!  This time next Saturday I'll be in a plane flying to Miami and getting ready to spend the entire week on a cruise ship!!!!  Hello beach, sun, and fruity drinks with umbrellas in them!

#3:  My parents come home in 2 days from Hawaii, I can't wait to see them again and see all of the pictures!

#4:  Yesterday was hot as could be!  Only in KS do we go from 60's and the next day 94!!!

#5:  Hubs and I have found another house and fell in love - again... when will we learn to quit shopping for a new house?  We need to sell ours first!  Anyone want to move to KS?  :)

#6:  Tonight we're heading to an outdoors concert... it's a small band but it's outdoors and there are water fountains all around, the fun kind that shoot out of the ground and kids love to run across... should be lots of fun!

#7:  Not sure I have a #7.... hmm... ah yes, I got my hair done yesterday... not sure that I'm loving it though.  Gotta shower today and decide if I'm gonna have to have it redone...  and I tanned yesterday, fried hardcore... damn.

Alright so I'm done with my numbering!!!!  Hope everyone has a nice weekend, I'm hoping to get the final shopping done for our vacation and other than that, relax!

Thankful Thursday

I got this idea from Cristina.... as I was reading her thankful list I was also watching my boys.  Logan (5) is playing baseball on the Wii.... and Riley (8mos) is laying on the floor chewing a toy and laughing.... it is the cutest laugh you could possibly hear!  Every time Logan "swings" Riley just laughs and laughs.... oh to be so easily amused! :)  So I am very thankful for being blessed with these 2 amazing boys who provide me with laughter, hugs and kisses.  Life couldn't be better than this!

weekend re-cap

As suspected the weekend with the MIL didn't go as smoothly as one would like it.

Friday:  Husband got off work early and we had a sitter for the night.  We were supposed to meet the MIL and her husband for dinner at 6:30.  At 6:30 she called me to see if it would be a big deal if we didn't eat dinner.  Apparently they were at a bar that used to be their regular hang out and so many friends were there that they didn't feel like they could leave.  Sure, go ahead and pick your friends over your family - AGAIN!  So we went out to dinner by ourselves and then met them at the bar.  Lucky for us the 2 of them were drunk and fighting with each other.  So we ended up playing babysitter to them for the rest of the night, hauling them and their drunk friends around to whichever bar they desired.  Ended up with them sleeping in our house...

Saturday:  They did actually manage to show up to our oldest sons soccer game, so they get a point for that.  (We'll ignore the fact that they were 30 minutes late!).  After the soccer game we took Logan to his pizza party and the in-laws headed out to the lake.  We made it out to the lake around 5 and hung out, grilled, swam... lots of fun!  Only one casualty: Logan got his fingers shut in the truck door - OW! - luckily after everyone doting on him for awhile he forgot about the fingers!  After visiting with his mom we drove to another campsite to see some of our friends... and then headed back to our house.  Of course both boys allergies just took off after being at the lake.  Riley barely slept Saturday night, which means that I didn't sleep either!

Sunday:  After everyone was up we just hung around being lazy.  MIL called around 4 asking if we were gonna come to her friends cook out so that we could see them.  So of course we'll do as they ask and we hauled the kids over to the cook out that was loaded with drunks.  Fun fun fun.  Luckily there were a couple other kids there, one was about 6 months younger than Logan and the other 2 months older than Riley, so Logan had a playmate and I had another mom to compare baby stuff with.  My only complaint, good Lord that woman had a mouth on her!  As we were heading home Logan asked my hubs who his girlfriend was.  Of course he says "mommy", to which Logan responded with "What the HELL!".... um yeah, we definitely had to have the conversation that just because he hears things from adults it doesn't mean that they are the "right" things to say!

Monday:  The in-laws were supposed to be here at 7 am to eat breakfast with us before they started their drive home.  So hubs and I got up early and started cooking.... it's now 10 am and we still haven't heard from them.  Nice....  her loss.  Hubs and Logan are off golfing and Riley and I are gonna leave shortly to hang with my sister.

Here's the thing.  On Friday after standing us up for dinner, the MIL kept going on and on about "what a bad mom she is".  I think she expected me to reassure her that she is a good mom.... sorry, you'll get nothing of the sorts from me!  After hearing the things that my hubs went through growing up I can't help but feel that she was not meant to be a mom.  I love his mom, she loves her son, but at least she's able to admit that she's not a good mom.  She has always come before her son.  Anyway, I'll steer away from this cause it could get ugly.

So the hubs and Logan are golfing, Riley is napping, and I'm blogging!  I've got some major house work to do today.  Oh!  Saturday I got a dress from Penney's to wear on our cruise!  I can't wait!

MIL frustration

I first off want to say that I have a wonderful MIL.  This is my 2nd marriage and my 1st MIL was a complete nightmare.  So much so that she is STILL a nightmare to me and I'm no longer married to her son!  But back to my MIL, she's wonderful, great to talk to, I can tell her anything.  If you want someone to go party with she's your gal.  So my problem.... she lives 6 hrs away.  When she does make it down to visit we have to go see her.  Some people might think that's ok, but not me.  I have a 5 yr old son that granted isn't her "blood" grandson, but he calls her grandma and he's known her for 4 yrs.  Plus, she has a 7 mo old "blood" grandson that she's only seen twice.  This is the part that bothers me, we have to go see her... and going to see her means we have to go to a bar.  And the worst part of it, most of the time she comes to visit, she gets into town Friday and we don't hear from her until Saturday night telling us that she's here and that she's leaving in the morning. (Remember, we never even knew she was coming to town!)  So because it's late at night, and of course she's in a bar, my husband has to go see her there and I get to stay home with the kids.  Her friends that are from this town are so important to her that she goes to see them before us, and once she's there with them she becomes too intoxicated to go anywhere else.  So, they are getting into town around midnight tonight.  I am home all day with the kids tomorrow.  Do you think she's going to come see them?  NO!!!!  She is gonna go buy a new phone and visit with her friends.  My husband and I get to see her when we meet her at the bar tomorrow night.  So we've had to find a sitter for the night just so that we can see her.  Then, Saturday is my son's last soccer game.  He would love it if she would come watch him play.... do you think she's going to? Nope, she's gonna head out to the lake with her friends so she won't have time.  She'll be there Saturday and Sunday night, and then is heading back home Monday.  So here is my big question: When are you going to come see your grandkids!?  And not only that, your son!  The answer:  We'll have to take the kids to the lake over the weekend so that they can see "grandma".  Ugh the frustrations!

American Idol - SHOCKER!!!!

WOW!!!!!  I so did not see that coming!!!!  I was Team Adam all the way!  I still think he's got more talent all the way around, but way to go Kris!  So what were peoples favorite parts?  My personal favorite would be "bikini-girl" and Kara singing... that was so damn funny!  You know that "bikini-girl" a.k.a. Katrina was humiliated!  And to top it off, Kara has a WAY better body than she does!  Oh... and loved KISS, Jason Mraz, Fergie.... all in all I vote that it was the best finale ever!!!

So I can't find the "bikini-girl" performance on YouTube yet but once I do I'll be sure to post it!  If you missed this finale... shame on you!

Check out this giveaway!

Recently I've come across a new favorite blog of mine, check out Inner Workings of a Real Life Barbie Doll.... to celebrate reaching 100 followers she's hosting a giveaway!

Cruising on!!!!

I am pleased to announce that I have FINALLY finished all of the requirements for our cruise!  Actually the only thing that was missing was me completing our online "fun pass" which will allow us to board the shipper quicker.  Amen to that!  And YES I did just notice that I wrote "shipper quicker" but I figure that for everyones amusement I'll leave it like that!  On June 6th me and hubs and 2 very close friends will be flying off to Miami to start our vacation.  I intend on my vacation starting in the bar at the airport! ha!  We get the night to party some in Miami and then Sunday morning we board our ship!  Woo Hoo!  Our stops include: Georgetown, Grand Camyan Islands; Roatan; Belize City; what was supposed to be Cozumel will now be Key West (I won't even get started on how irritated I am about the damn Swine Flu!); and then we return to Miami!  7 days at sea!!!!  I cannot wait!  So just imagine me on this boat.... in a room with a balcony (hell yeah!)

And I'm sure since it's my vacay that I'll be drinking a few of these!!!!

and of course I'll be looking as sexy as this gal right here.... oh ok I'll quit with the b.s.  I've got about 2 lbs on her! ha!  When will designers start using models that look like the every day woman????

Thanks A Little Bit Delirious for your help on fixing my header!!!!!  What do you guys think?  Beautious?

I had an amazing weekend!  Went to a japanese steakhouse for dinner on Friday, fun fun!  Spent Saturday with my hubs and then even got to go out with some friends that evening... played a little Texas Hold-em, btw I didn't win... hmph!  Then today started out nice and lazy.... then the phone rang and I got invited to go horse back riding - which of course I said well HELLZ YEAH!!!!  Drove an hour each way but it was so worth it... had 60 acres to ride through, ponds, trees, cows, deer.... running through pastures, wind blowing my hair back and the horse's mane in my face.... it was absolutely P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!  Finished the ride off with a cold Bud Light.... then made my journey home.

Tried out the KFC Grilled Chicken tonight.... might I add I had forgotten how ridiculously expensive the damn meals were!!!!  And I had a little crack up about the "rain check" on the free meals that Oprah advertised.... jeez, get your asses in gear... if you can't live up to the offer then don't offer it!!!!

Should be a busy week around here.  It's the kiddo's last week of school so we've got the teacher appreciation luncheon, the kids have their end of the year program/pre-school graduation, and then the end of the year fun afternoon!  Fun Fun Fun... sorta more like headache, headache, headache!!!  Nah, I'm excited for it all and even more excited that summer is so close to being here!!!!

Gotta go get a sonogram done this week.... nope, definitely NOT prego!  Gotta get my thyroid checked out, joy joy!

Less that 3 weeks left until my cruise!!!! Whoop!

Here's how it went....

Logan: Mom, Riley pooped in his pants
Me: That's ok
Logan: But why did you let him do that?
Me:  Because that's what babies do
Logan: Well are you going to change him?
Me:  I will, but I want to make sure he's done first
Logan: He's done
Me: How do you know?
Logan: Because it's all over his shirt

yeah..... you can't even imagine how gross!

Weekend Pics

Monday Ramblings

So I had all weekend to think about things I'd like to blog about, and then of course when it comes to sitting down and doing it, I can't remember what those things were!  So instead, here's a recap of my weekend...

Friday: I decided to be an awesome aunt and invited my 3 nieces over for a sleepover.  We've never had a sleepover in my house before so this was all new for me!  I had a total of 5 kids here, talk about slightly chaotic!  We played outside, then came in and everyone got to make their own personal pan pizza (hello mess!), then after dinner we made chocolate chip cookies... and closed the night out with playing games and watching Hotel For Dogs while eating popcorn!  FYI the movie is pretty cute!  The hubs and I got a few good laughs out of it!  By 9:30 we had everyone asleep and the hubs and I settled down for some t.v. and icecream! Yum!

Saturday: Anyone familiar with cats?  There is that awful meowing sound that they make when they're mad, well that's what I woke up to Saturday morning! I'll start this story by describing this one special niece of mine.  Little Maddie is 7 years old and quite the handful!  She LOVES all babies and animals, she loves them so much though that you have to worry about their safety!  The #1 rule at our house is that the kids must leave the cat alone when they come over.  Don't get me wrong, the cat is a very loving cat but she just doesn't enjoy being chased by these little girls!  and seriously, who can blame her?  So, back to the story, I woke up Saturday morning to that awful sound, along with a set of feet thumping around on our kitchen floor.  I go out to see that poor Shay (the cat) is being chased around the kitchen by Maddie.  Mind you that for Shay's safety I had locked her in our utility room for the night so the "innocent" child must have let her out.  So now I'm awake, and I have 4 kids telling me how hungry they are and a fussing baby letting me know that he too is hungry!  So, scrambled eggs and toast for the kids.... after I went through a dozen eggs would you believe that these kids ALL asked for MORE!  Sorry guys, kitchen is closed, enjoy the poptarts! lol   The nieces left at 9am, then we headed off to our soccer game - which my kiddo made a goal! Woot Woot!  We came home to relax a bit, then jumped in the car and off to the zoo.... which wasn't very exciting! About half of the animals were still in their winter homes... thank goodness it only cost us $14 for 2 adults and a child but imagine how much fun it was explaining to a 5 yr old why there were no tigers or monkeys!  Finished the night at Applebees and then home to pass out.

Sunday:  HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!  I made my husband swear that he would not get me anything, he spoiled me way too much for our anniversary!  So my gift was that I got to sleep through the night!  He got up every time with the baby, it was the BEST present I could have gotten!  We had dinner with my family, and afterwards I tried on my old formal dresses from high school.  So #1 I graduated high school 10 years ago and #2 I've had 2 kids.  Yesterday absolutely did nothing for my ego!  Why is it that those dresses don't fit anymore?!  Seriously????  I mean damn I've only had 2 kids! lol   Anyway, came home and all of us went to bed early.  To my delight baby boy only woke up once!!!!  YAY!!!!!

Oh, I'm remembering something funny (actually more gross) from the zoo.  We did see an Orangatan.  She was hanging out in a tree about 5 feet away from where we standing.  One minute she's just staring at us, then she turns her head and throws up all over the tree... and of course then proceeds to eat it!  Naturally my 5 year old boy thought that was hilarious! (excuse me while I go vomit!)

Also we saw a ton of lovely, classy, white trash folks.  You know who I'm talking about, the extremely large ladies with teeny tiny tank tops/halter tops, nappy hair that appears to have not been washed for days, and they only have about 2 teeth.  Oh!  And let me add that they have about 6 kids, and at least 2 of those kids have ridiculous rat tails!

There will be pics to come, just need to figure out how to upload them to this computer... man how I hate change!

BTW, a shout out to Liz at Bright Eyes Photography. She stopped by my house this last week to take some pics of my adorable baby boy..... check out her site!

Saturday Findings

I was tagged by Trixie for a meme! Check her out!

The Rules
1. Mention the person who nominated you (above).
2. List six unimportant things that make you happy
3. Tag six blogs, state the rules & notify them with a teeny comment on their blog.

So without further ado, I present to you 6 UNIMPORTANT things that make me happy:

1. Morning thunderstorms.... I love laying in bed listening to the rain and the thunder, it's a great start to the day! Of course I only enjoy these storms if they're done by 9 or 10 and then the rest of the day is sunny, and obviously I only enjoy them if I don't have to go anywhere in them!

2. Curling up with my dog Cosmo (boston terrier), she's such a sweetie and loves to cuddle! Makes me feel like I'm doing a good job being a pet owner!

3. A nice walk, fresh air and exercise are a great combination!

4. My flannel pants, I wear them year round no matter what the temperature. I'm the weirdo in Wal-mart who is wearing her pj's..... and normally my flannels have a Christmas theme!

5. Dr Pepper... it's an absolute obsession in my household, it's known as my "liquid cocaine"

6. A great song with a great beat! I love music, I can't sing or dance to save my life but damn-it I do both just because I CAN and it's FUN!

I'm going to change this up a little bit and add 6 IMPORTANT things that make me happy too....

1. My boys, my boys are my life. One is 5yrs old, the other is 7mos old. These two kids bring me more happiness and laughter than I knew a child was capable of doing! No one can make you feel as loved as a child.

2. Spending time with my husband. He truly is my bestfriend. Whether we're sitting on the floor drinking beer and playing Scrabble, or heading to a bar/club to listen to a band, we always have fun and there isn't anyone that I would rather spend my time with. (I guess I should add that not all of our activities include alcohol! lol)

3. My sisters and brother, we have a lot of differences but none the less we love each other and always have each others backs! It's been so much fun to watch my younger siblings grow... one will graduate college next year and the other will graduate high school, I'm so proud of them!

4. My education. I'm not using my education right now, but I'm thrilled that I have it. I've graduated college once with an Associate in Arts, and I'm continuing my education to complete my nursing degree.... I have one year left and I'll be an RN!!!! Also I spent 9 years in insurance, I love that I've been able to take care of myself and my family, it's a very rewarding feeling!

5. Food.... what would life be without food?! Especially Mexican!!!

6. My friends, there are only a few of them that I've kept in touch with over the years but I love them all and am thankful for every time they've been there for me!!!!!

Now, I tag 6 people....(of course, please don't do this if you don't want to!)

Jon & Kate Plus 8

I am a faithful follower of Jon & Kate Plus 8.  My 5 yr old and I enjoy watching it together.  I know there has always been controversy over what type of wife/mother/person Kate is.  I personally think that she is just your typical strong personality person.  We all know those people who have a "bossy", or more assertive, personality.  So take that person, and add 8 children, 6 of which are the same age, and can you imagine how that assertive personality would change?  Sure she can be bossy, aka bitchy, to her husband, but can't we all?  And she has always said that yes, this is absolutely 100% reality tv, what you see is what you get.  Even on the entry to their show she states, "it may not be a perfect life, but it's our life".  So, obviously I imagine you're seeing that I don't have bad feelings towards her.  I have to give her credit for taking care of 8 kids.  Her sextuplets are the same age as my oldest son.  I cannot imagine having gone through the past 5 yrs with another 5 of him!  You would have had to admit me to the nut house!

Recently we've all heard the conversations about how Jon was unfaithful to Kate.  There is a part of me that finds it hard to believe his denials.  #1, your wife is out of town on a book tour, why the hell are you out at the bar with a 23 yr old girl?  I don't care if there are other people around, the girl is way too young, you are married, and who is keeping your 8 children while you're at the bar?  I believe it was on People.com where I read his statement about how he has spent time at her house and she at his, they are friends and that is what friends do.  I don't know about the rest of you, but if my husband was to bring a female friend home to hang out, there'd be some serious issues.  Especially if I'm not home.  There are appropriate friendships, and then there are inappropriate friendships, and in my opinion (which of course means it's right) his friendship is inappropriate.  Kate was shown on the Today show and right off the get go she was asked about the alleged affair.  Kate looked so reserved, and almost sad.  She said they have decided to handle this matter privately but that she hesitates to believe that Jon was unfaithful.  Chalking this up to "this is what comes with having a public life".  I just feel really sorry for her.

So to Kate... if you ever happen to come across this blog, I think you're wonderful, you hang in there, and don't let your husband make a fool of you.  Maybe that last line isn't appropriate, I just don't know what else to say.

So to my readers out there, what do you think?  I'm sure this can be a pretty controversial conversation, but lets hear what you have to say!

the run for the roses

the run for the roses....

One of my favorite days of the year.  The beautiful horses, they are so elegant!  It's always fun to see the women and their hats and the jockeys with all their colors.   I can't imagine the excitement that is felt being there at Churchill Downs.  It's been interesting this year to see what changes to racing have been made after the death of Eight Belles.  Such a beautiful filly who ran herself to the ground and to her death.....

And then the beautiful Barbaro, what an amazing horse.  I thought for sure that he would win the Triple Crown.  What a sad day when he was finally put down.

None the less, I love horse racing.  Anything related to horses I am interested in.  We used to have a horse racing track nearby but that was closed down last fall.... what a shame!  When I was a child I had a few horses of my own.  The stables that I boarded at was pretty much my home.  Anyway, every winter we would get a group of race horses that came to spend the winter in our barn.  I was only 11 or 12 when this started happening and those horses just seemed so magnificent!  Some of my most favorite memories are when we would turn the horses out in the arena and they would just run and kick their feet up, you could see how much they loved to run!

I'm rooting for Chocolate Candy and Desert Party.... so I'll hold onto this post until after the race is finished....

So.... for the 2009 Kentucky Derby, congratulations to........   Mine that Bird!!!!  What an unbelievable race!  If you didn't watch it you should definitely find the video online and check it out, it's amazing!!!!!

in that weird place....

or is it wierd?  Hmm... weird looks better.  To begin, I have to admit that I feel slightly sophisticated sitting in my recliner with my laptop, that or it's a lazy feeling.  Either way I enjoy it!  It's like I finally know what I was missing!  It's a little bit like Carrie (Sex and the City), as if I'm sitting in my apartment writing my next column, drinking my cosmo, smoking my cigarette, and wondering why love works the way it does.  Of course none of the above are even close to true.  I'm not sitting in my NYC apartment, far from.  No column to write, no cosmo, quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago, and am 100% satisfied with my love life.  Though even though my life is good, my husband is wonderful, my kids are happy and healthy, I still feel like there is a piece of me that is missing.  Is it because I don't work anymore?  Yes being home with 2 kids is a full time job, but I still feel as if I'm not contributing to our family anymore.  I miss being able to go to the store and buy a shirt just because I wanted it.  I didn't have to explain it to anyone I could just buy it.  Not that my husband would need an explanation, nor would he care if I went and bought a shirt.  The issue is me, I'd have to ask for the debit card and then I would feel the need to explain why I should by a shirt.... when in reality there would be no real reason to buy the shirt except that I want to!  (sigh) I'm babbling.  Not working was my own decision, and I love being home with my kids.  I can't imagine sending them to daycare, especially the baby.  I feel so privileged to be able to raise him myself, I get to see all of those firsts, he sees me and lights up, it's an amazing feeling!  So if it's not money/job, then what's the issue?  What's missing?  Adult conversation?  Drinks with friends?  Nights on the town?  All of the above sound pretty appealing to me, of course so does a Dr Pepper! lol  Sorry, had to throw that in there, Dr P is definitely my vice!

So there is something like 34 days left until my cruise.  I'm too excited!  Sadly I have hardly worked out.  Last week I did great with walking/running and eating well, but this week it seemed like all it did was rain, so all I did was sit on the couch and play with kids!  I know, it's no excuse, but I'm weak and definitely not determined enough to achieve my bikini bod.  However, I do not look like a cow, so I will proudly (atleast somewhat proudly) wear my bikini and know that I have had 2 kids and one is still a baby, and damn I look just fine!

And totally off track, I put baby boy to bed at 6:30 this evening.... he is STILL sleeping!  I'm afraid to go to bed because I know as soon as I lie down and get comfortable he'll wake up to eat!

Well... I'm off to play around on the computer a little more.  Thanks for listening/reading my rambling!

MIA

I'M BACK!!!!!  Seems like we've had nothing but rain or storms here.  Last Saturday night, or maybe it was Sunday?, was the first round of storms, and I'm sad to say, we lost our computer.... actually more angry about that because I'd just finished paying the damn thing off!  So, hubby got the brilliant idea of going out and buying a new computer.... not just a computer, but a Mac laptop.  So I'm learning how to use a laptop, I miss my mouse (and once I get smart enough I'll have the wireless mouse working), I no longer have internet explorer, or word, so it's all new!!!  Hang in there and give me time, I'll be back with something interesting soon, I'm sure of it!!!!!  Have a great weekend!
